Thought this would be an interesting in-home project to keep or give as gifts. (Mods, wasn't sure if I should have posted this in the gift jar section.) Has anyone tried making flavored infused vodka? Any recipes, tips, or flavor ideas? Raspberry sounds like a good one. TIA

I did some poking around on the web and wanted to share this link for inspiration/ideas.

THis sounds good Mish. Easy! That's always nice.

I've made blackberry and huckleberry liqure. Oh yummy.
It's almost the same thing except that you add sugar to the
vodka and instead of a few weeks to infuse it takes more like six. The wait is worth it.

Check out annamaria's limoncello. There was another thread here about vodka infusions. I just can't remember where I saw it. I will go hunt for it. With Christmas coming this is a perfect idea mish.

Thanks pds. How much sugar & berries should I add - guessing the size would be 1.75 litres? TIA...& for all the replys.

Also, you can put vanilla beans in the vodka and keep it in a dark place for a few weeks or months - a large bottle of vanilla extract.

Mish... I have to find my recipe.
I'll try to get to it tonight. It's in one of my
books...somewhere. lol.. Too many recipes. Too little time.

:):)

LOL! It was in the first book that I looked in.

Here's the recipe.

Black berry cordial (TNT)
You can use frozen berries to make this but.. I've only used fresh.

4 16 oz bages frozen blackberries (unsweetened, loose pack)
or
16 cups fresh blackberries ( or raspberries or huckleberries or blueberries)

5 cups sugar
4 cups 100 proof vodka
water.

Place the berries in a gallon glass jar. Pour in the sugar and vodka.
Stir well.

Add water until mix hits the top of the jar.

Stir gently until sugar dissolves.

Cover tightly.

Keep in a cool dark place for six weeks.

Strain and filter. This is a very time consuming part but
it's it's very important to get a clear jewel like liqueur.

First strain through a regular kitchen strainer to remove all the solids.
The pass through cheese cloth or a jelly bag. Repeat.

The strain through coffee filters. Four or five times until juice is very clear.
It takes me a whole long day to do this part.
Worth every minute though.

Pour final product in to bottles or decantors.

If using huckleberries or blueberries.. the berries must be squished a little before starting.

If you like a stronger drink.. you can add more vodka or more berries instead of the water.

Sugar can be adjusted to your taste.

Sorry it took me a while to get back, pds. (It's been a loooong day.) Thank you for taking the time to look it up and post the recipe. 100 proof? That should chase the blues away, lol. Can't wait to give that a try :)

I think giving it a try is a great idea. I'm going to go pour a glass and then take a nice warm bubble bath. : )
