Why? WHY? WHY?

Why, Why, Why

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak?

Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why doesn't glue stick to the bottle?

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?"

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

And my FAVORITE......
The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.:smile::smile::smile::smile::smile::smi le:

WHY WHY WHY... is all of this so true??

LOL, love them all!!

Raven 12-21-2005 03:04 PM

LOL!! Cute!!

This makes me wonder words like Illiteracy and Dislexia are so darned hard to spell?

Why are there commercials for literacy which use letters for numbers? (Can't read? Dial 1-800-ABC-DEFG) AS IF EVEN AN ENGLISH PROFESSOR CAN DO THIS!!

For that matter, who's the Einstien at the phone company who came up with the idea to put the letters ABC on the number 2??

Still, one of my favorites is the little recorded voice that comes on when you've left the phone off the rest. "If you need help, hang up and dial the operator". If I could have dialed the freakin phone I would have rung up 911! I want a voice activated dialer. Somehow laying on the floor screaming "God help me" into an annoying busy signal just don't seem cut it.

Why do us left-handers have to live in your right-handed world, paying extra for most items exept for a tollbooth, which is naturally built for a left-hander automatically?

pdswife 12-21-2005 07:21 PM

that's a very good question TX. Paul, David and I are all left handers living in a right hand world.

KAYLINDA 12-21-2005 11:03 PM

Thank you Barbara! This was really one of my husband's "things"..he was really amused at the link you gave us! Thanks!

Raven 12-22-2005 03:15 AM

LOL! I can't believe they're trying to do this! LOL!

The letter W originates in ancient Rome but was not actually part of the ancient Roman alphabet, rather it was a ligature or "combination" letter along with / (pronounced "Ah" as in Cat or Hat) and /(ligiture of OE Pronounced as a soft e as in Set).

Although Wikpedia claims that the W is not a true ligature as it forms a different sound from the VV or UU much in the same way the double L in Spanish produces a Y sound (LLama is properly pronounced Yama).

In German you say W [veː] so it is not a two syllable word.... but we have the Y [ˈʏpsilɔn] ;o)

but the rest is just great... almost fell off my chair ;o))
