Groundhog Day occurs on February 2 because it's considered to be the middle of winter. It falls halfway between the winter solstice in December and the vernal equinox in March. This is also right about the time that groundhogs end their hibernation. Since the ceremony started in Punxsutawney, PA, in 1887, the groundhog has "seen his shadow" roughly 90% of the time.

i missed #1 today, and guessed corectly on #'s 5 and 6. got the crap correct. 47 seemed extreme.

and do they bait hooks with chunks of tuna or salmon to catch worms on polish fishing shows? :rolleyes:
