Wine after a month, or several

Fortified wines last a long time (vermouth, etc) because of their high alcohol content. Other wines can become nasty. You can often see it without even tasting it. Whites become sort of yellow, reds become sort of brown. I often recommend fortified wines for cooking for freinds who don't drink it because of their long shelf life.
