Hello All. I am new to this forum but need help with a recipe that my husband's Grandmother used to make for him. I got some help from his Aunt but there is a lot missing. She called it German Lemon Pie.
This is what I have:
1 piece of butter big as an egg
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons of flour
1? Lemon rind and juice
1? cup milk
Beat egg whites 2? well and blend into mixture above

He said the top was all dark brown almost burnt.
If anyone could help with this I sure would appreciate it.

Thank you.:ermm:

Lemon Pie

The recipe was given to our Aunt verbally in German so some things got lost in translation.

Lemon Pie

My Aunt tried and said it came out awful and runny.

Ok, well that gives a starting point! Presumably she made a lemon curd and then mixed the milk and flour then folded in the whites?

Lemon Pie

I just found a recipe for Lemon Sponge Pie that is very similar. I will try that.
Lemon Chess Pie has cornmeal in it and is of southern origin so can't be that. I will look for some Amish recipes too.
