Hi new poster here. Looks like a great forum.

My wife and I are remodeling our kitchen. We are investing a great deal so I am trying to make the best decisions possible. We are getting custom maple cabinets and quartz counter tops.

We are not replacing our refrigerator just putting in stainless steel panels.

I was convinced the Viking or Wolf should have been our choices for the cooktop, range, microwave and dishwasher, but my wife really fell in love with the look and feel and feature package of Dacor.

This cooktop
Dacor - Products

and this range, microwave, warmer package
Dacor - Products

My questions to you all is whether Dacor has the performance and reputaion of Viking or Wolf.

And also resale value. We will probably be selling our in in the next five years. So would a new buyer view Dacor as a quality appliance.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Steve

Don't know anything about Dacor.

Bought our house with a Viking and frankly would never have another.

One cannot simmer anything on it. To simmer a pot, have to move the pot off the burner a bit and keep an eagle's eye on it.

And it takes forever to get the oven up to temperature.

Other than that it is OK.

Can see why all of its features are great for a restaurant.

But not for the home cook.

Due to work considerations we have lived in many places with many stoves.

Even lived in a place that had a stove that operated at 550 degrees or room temp.

Learned a whole lot about cooking with that sucker. Roasting became a challange and I think I bested the beast almost as often as it bested me.

As a home cook would not consider putting in a Viking.

Just MHO.
