This is for all of you who live in the US.
If you are getting a food package from someone in another country, you should know about Prior Notice. This means that the package has to be OKed by the FDA, before it can go through customs. This means going to their web site--Food and Drug Administration Home Page--and filling out a very long complicated form desceibing what's in the package, how much it's worth, and what it weighs! When this is done, you'll get a confirmation number, which you then send to the person sending the food. He/she puts this on the package, then you get it--hopefully!
In other words, if you have a reletive in let's say France, and he/she wants to send you some candy from there, it'll never get to you, if you don't do this. And it doesn't matter if it's just non-perishable food!
Personally, I think the whole thing's ridiculous, and I'd like to see it gotten rid of! What do you all think?
