ISO help making red licorice

Has anyone made licorice before? I've been thinking about trying it!

Well, apparently no one has tried it. Maybe someone will come along later today.

I found quite a few recipes for it...using plain and flavored gelatine, cherry soda, water, and anise. I'll try it later!

Well, I made some today. I'm letting it set in the fridge. I'll let everyone know how it turns out!

It ended up like Finger Jello. Dang.

Based on the ingredient quantities (4 envelopes Knox gelatine, 3 packages Jell-O, 4 cups water, and 2 teaspoons anise flavoring) it should have set up like Knox blox.

And the sad part is, I don't like Knox Blox anymore!

I looked into make liqourice one time and I found a recipe that was a cooked sugar recipe then had flour added to it after it came up to the desired temp...that one seemed right to me because I think the flour would achieve that liqourice texture that normal sugar candies can't...

I've never tried making it. I am a pretty good baker, but a bit of a dud when it comes to making candy, so if it is something I can easily buy, I usually do that rather than attempt to cook it.
