Hi. Is it the New Mexico green chile on this page? Fresh Chile Peppers. Amazingly enough, I think that's one of the peppers we grew in our garden in Virginia this past summer :) I'll post a photo later when I get home. What do you like to do with it?

Hi. "Green chile" can describe lots of things and we somehow lost the tag that came with the peppers we planted, so I'm not sure what they are. Here is a photo:

The one at the top is 5-1/2 inches long, not including the stem. They look like Hatch or New Mexico green chile peppers to me :) Can anyone with more pepper experience tell me what they are? TIA.

Are they just mildly hot?

They look like Anaheims to me. One of my favorite varieties, since I can eat them without pain.

I second the Anaheim vote (the name "Anaheim" & "New Mexico" chili is interchangeable in many areas).

But I'd definitely taste one first before using a lot of them in a recipe, as there are several Anaheim lookalikes that can be superhot.
