Dear pghmarty,

body.hmmessage { font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma; } Marty:

Sorry for my delayed reply but I was away from my e-mail for a couple days.

First of all, thank you for the $4 refund on shipping, that was very kind of you. Also, item was received today, so thank you for the very fast shipment. I will be leaving feedback shortly.

This item is an ice cream dipper; used mainly to fill ice cream cones. It was probably made in the very late 1930's or very early 1940s. If you can access US patents, this was patented under patent number 2165941 (July, 1939). I have another one similar to this, but yours is a little heavier/slightly longer, but unfortunately is missing the nut that attaches to the screw holding the two handles together. It is a very nice item though and I should be able to find a replacement nut, or it is fine without..

I've seen these come up every so often on ebay, perhaps once every other month or so (there was another one on ebay the other day, but not sure if that one has sold yet or not; it was however missing the spring).

Again, thank you for the dipper & Happy Halloween.

Tom
