Sort of depends on the recipe.

Crushed red pepper.
Any hot chile pepper, ground.
White pepper
Hot Paprika...

If you could tell us why you want a substitute and what you wanted it in we might be able to help a bit more.

I don't have any and a jerky receipe calls for it, I have crushed red pepper and a 6 pepper mix spice that would probably work. Thanks for the help

Crushed red pepper I would think would do quite nicely. I did not know if you just did not want the heat of cayenne, whether you were allergic to the stuff, or what.

Enjoy.

thanks everyone, i used crushed red pepper flakes. The seasonings made a good flavor, but it was a little too salty. Now I'll just have to add less salt to the receipe until its right for us.

Hello Mikki :)

If u want to use something like cayenne, u could use chilli powder.
Or if u want to use something like it, but not spicey, u could use sweet paprika powder.

My husband must have used the last of it in chili, I had already started the jerky and couldnt got get any.
