Would you also not recommend Simpson's in the Strand? And don't forget to pop into a neighborhood wine bar or pub and taste the local grub...more often than not, creative and great value!

Dodi, my boyfriend and I just moved to London in February. Here are a few that we have found and enjoyed so far. We are going to wait until my family comes to visit to try out Gordon Ramsay's.

Le Relais de Venise l'entrecôte (Marylebone Lane)

Tomoe (Japanese, also on Marylebone Lane)

Maroush (on Edgeware) great for a weekend out, has live music and belly dancing

Topkapi (on Marylebone High Street) some of the best Turkish food I've ever had
-tip: order the large assortment of appetizers, it's not on the menu so you have to request it.

Bodean's BBQ (Soho, Poland St.) when we went here the ribs were not cooked long enough and were tough, but the pulled pork sandwich was really good. So far it's the best I have found in London as far as BBQ goes.

Thank you very much for the suggestions, I will add them to the list, so we can have a great London gastronomic tour! :chef::chef::chef:

Dodi,
Thank you for the list, I will print it and keep it with my passport LOL
Topo Gigio in a basement at 46, Brewer Street is great for Italian and there is a great Indian restaurant in Essex called Maharaja. I wonder if you heard about it, I visited with an Indian coworker whose cousin works there. It is extremely good and the service great.

I just remembered the name of the restaurant I wanted to list above. Lahore Kabob House on Umberton street I believe. Really good food at a very good price. There isn't much atmosphere, but the food more than makes up for it. FYI.. if you want wine you bring your own with you. It's a great place to go with a group of friends as well.

thanks for the thread... i don't know if i'll be going to London anytime soon, but when I do I'll keep the restaurants in mind...

Wow, nice list! Thanks for sharing. I will save the list in my outlook note. With the devalue of US currency, I hope I still can afford to dine in London:)

There was a time when the Savoy Hotel had a top restaurant...still the case?? anyone know??
