I am making beef jerkey in a food dehydrator. It was marinated overnight in a soy/spice mixture.

How long should I leave em in there? I believe last time I made it , it took like six hours, but Im not sure.

Any advice or tips will be much appreciated.

I currently plan on just checking it every hour until the desired texture is reached.

Mine generally takes somewhere between 6-8 hours, cut 1/4 inch thick.
I do what you do... snack, I mean check it until I decide it is done, LOL!

I haven't made it in years, but it seems to me that it took more like 10 hours.

I'm sure it depends on how thickly you sliced the beef and the type of dehydrator you have.

I, too, kept checking. Easy when you are making beef jerky, but trickier when making turkey jerky.

Yeah, mines still going, its dark and hardened on the outside, I just want to ensure the middle is dried thoroughly. Theyre about 1/4 inch thick.

I always did mine in a gas oven (about 100ºF) when I lived in Golden, CO - ambient humidity about 5%. It took about 6-8 hours.

Not all food dehydrators are the same ... I would suggest reading the manual that came with it for basic guidelines.

I guess I should have explained that I lost my manual.

Ended up taking a solid 7 hours but well worth it.
