So, now I know I can plant my sprouted garlic. I picked up a piece of ginger root at the store that has a couple of little eye looking things popping up and I thought, "hey... I wonder if I can plant that??!"

Well... can I plant the ginger root? Will it do anything?

yes, i did it one year. Has kind of a bamboo look to it. U can use the leaves to add a ginger flavor ( kind if like adding a bay leaf, u must remove it at the end.) If you are really luck, after the season, u can dig up the root and maybe have a lot more ginger root there .

yes, indeedy. many ginger plants and their flowers are quite attractive, and there are several varieties in that same family that are grown for their ornamental attractiveness rather than their cooking potential. but you can always tell a zingiber plant by the lovely smell of its crushed leaves!
