This is the dessert that won at the Jack Daniels contest.

KRISPY KREME BREAD BUDDING WITH BUTTER RUM SAUCE

2 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1 can fruit cocktail (undrained)
2 eggs, beaten
1 (9-ounce) box raisins
1 pinch salt
1 or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Butter Rum Sauce, recipe follows

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Cube donuts into a large bowl. Pour other ingredients on top of donuts and let soak for a few minutes. Mix all ingredients together until donuts have soaked up the liquid as much as possible.

Bake for about 1 hour until center has jelled. Top with Butter Rum Sauce.

Butter Rum Sauce:

1 stick butter
1 pound box confectioners' sugar
Rum, to taste

Melt butter and slowly stir in confectioners' sugar. Add rum and heat until bubbly. Pour over each serving of Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding.

I don't think I want to spend so much money on 2 dozen Krispy Kremes. That's a significant expenditure, considering you're making bread pudding.

We didn't eat any of it at the Jack, it might be worth the cost. Kinda like buying steak.

I think it sounds wonderful, except I've never been a fan of fruit cocktail. I'm guessing that it needs the liquid equivelent, tho'......anything else I might use?

Guess you could just experiment and try different things you like. I'm not real fond of fruit cocktail either, but I am fond of Krispy Kreme's

"fond" is a nice word for

"must have it now!"

I'm surprised WayneT hasn't joined in -
he's a doughnut-kinda-guy -
