I'm currently demo'ing an upstairs bedrrom. I found 2/3 of room still had original fur t & g flooring. This weekend I should have that up and will save it for another part of the house....maybe the foyer or in front of the fireplace.

The most recent remodel was the 1/2 bath on the first floor. It was originally "just going to be" floor, paint, sink, terlit and new fixtures. Like everything else, it was Pandoras Box.

Here's some shots during the demo and plumbing stages. The sheathing, subfloor and a couple studs were damaged from a roof leak years ago. So everything had to be removed. I moved the water pipes from the floor to the walls for the new terlit and pedestal sink.

This was actually my first plumbing job by mistake - LOL. WHILST I was saw-zalling the subfloor out, I knicked a waterpipe and made a sprinkler in the bathroom. I learned real quick how to solder (sweat) copper pipes.

I thought I had some finished pics on my PC, but I couldn't find them. I'll take some pics when I get home.

Looks like a lot of work. I used to do stuff like tht when I was first married but I'm not up to it any longer.

Yeah. That little room was a pain in the rear. I've always done this sort of thing myself. My family is cursed by contractors.

could be worse .. like removing all the load bearing walls from your
first floor ..

I-beam's are the way to go. We had one installed in the kitchen back in the 80's to remove 2 posts that were supporting the second floor.

Lots of work and money, but definatley the best route in the long run. God luck with that.

Here's some pics of the finished 1/2 bath. Originally there was a cabinet vanity where the sink is. I like the old style fixtures. The matching sink and terlit are from Lowes. In fact, everything you see in there is from Lowes. LOL The DW and I did everything ourselves. Total cost including the structural repair was under $1500.

jeekinz, it looks too nice to, well, to you know what in there. :ermm:
nice work!!!

(ok, it was a toss up between what i posted, and "jeekinz, i would be honored to poop in there...)

Thanks for the compliments.

Here's the bedroom I'm working on now. My house is old as dirt so the retarded contractors kept ploping on floors to try to level out the settling. You can see the original subfloor and what's left of the fir t/g flooring. I put a few hours in yesterdaqy and got as far as pulling up 2/3 of the t/g flooring to save for somewhere else in the house. I can decide whether I'm going to level it in the simillar manner with those sleepers or totally remove the flooring and sister the floor joists with new ones.

all this and you cook TOO!!!:w00t2:

We went through that last year, when we had work done all over the house. It was a real pain in the neck, but now it's so nice!
Look at these Italian glass tiles we had installed behind our kitchen counter...

the two things I learned from a kitchen remodel years ago:

1) that electric frying pan in the basement you haven't used in years is now your new best friend.

2) Cheerios don't flush.

LOL Robo.

Constance, that's exactly what I want to do for a back splash in my kitchen. In fact, that blue mason jar is the accent color in my kitchen. I think it plays off nicely to the orange walls. Your counters are beautiful.
