Tortellini is filling and fast. Its one of our standbys for ball nights.

1 large bag deli tortellini
1 pkg Knorrs (or International) bearnaise sauce

Tortellini = $6
Bearnaise = $2

Feeds a family of 4 with leftovers (enough for one persons lunch) for $8.

Reminds me of one I made last summer, which I suppose is cheaper if you grow sage....

6-8 sage leaves finely chopped (free)
3-4 TB butter.... 50 cents?
Half bag frozen tortellini $4?
Sorry I didn't measure I'm guessing.

melt butter, gently saute sage in butter until shriveled, pour over cooked tortellini.
MMMM I think I know what I'm making for dinner....

Mmm, might know what I'm making for dinner too! Thanks!

yeah I want to learn to make them too Charlie...
Just think how cheap they'd be then!
However I can make ravioli w/ wonton skins... I think the sage butter would go on them just fine too.

Believe it or not, its actually NOT cheaper to make your own tortellini. I've done both and its cheaper to buy the stuff at the deli. Cheaper still if you can find the dried stuff on the shelves.

Depends. If you use some kind of device that puts out 100 or so of them at once. It might be cheaper.
