OCTOBER IS : (I know it's late in the month, but)

Fire Prevention Month (check your smoke detector batteries)

Don't for get to get checked

31st is Halloween (trick or treat!)

NOVEMBER:

1st - 2nd is Daylight Savings (one hour behind - yippie!)

4th is Election Day in the U.S.(some of you young 'uns may not even remember those old booths)

11th is Veterans Day in the U.S.(thank you!)

Anyone else think of anything upcoming?

quicksilver, it is extremely thoughtful of you to remind us all to check our smoke detectors. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! ;)

That's weird.....I responded to this, but the thread disappeared!!!
I don't know what made me think of this, as years past the TV commercials used to run all month to remind us.
I realized I haven't seen any in at least the past couple of years.

my local fire department usually comes by and checks them for me once a year ((around christmas time) but it would probably be a good idea to do extra checks inbetween those times.

Sometimes, it's my cooking that lets me know the fire detectors are still working:ermm:.

I also have fire extinguishers on every floor, the fire department will refill them for free if you have the refillable kind.

Gee... now what does that say about my cooking??

We in Queensland are the only ones who will not have it in AU, it makes the other States cranky, but that's bad luck :)
