Help!! I can't open my slow cooker's lid. :(

I turned it off and an hour or two went to open the lid only to find that it can't be opened. Seems like the heat sucked in all the air or something. Any suggestions as to how to get it to open? :(
 
Ooo, never mind. I got it open. Phew! I was able to let a little air in with a knife through the side of the rubber and when enough air got in, it popped open.

/relieved!!
 
Next time, turn the slow cooker back on and let it heat up. the pressure will equalize and the lid will lift off.
 
As air cools - it shrinks ... that is how "canned foods" get a vacuum seal.

As Andy M. said - either reheat the food to expand the air in the pot - or simply leave the lid "askew" so it doesn't form a vacuum as it cools.
