New Job Position

I thought some of you might get a chuckle out of this. My husband works for a major convienence store chain, he's been with them for almost 30 years. Well this week his store got hit by a truck (yes truck). Believe it or not this is the fourth time a store that he has managed has been hit by a truck/car.
No one has ever been hurt, not even minor injuries, just car/truck and of course store front damage. At a meeting today one of the district mgr. ask him to move to his territory so he could get his stores remodeled. They want to call his new job position Store Front Remodel/Demolision Supervisor. I thought it was cute. Oh, Thank Heaven!

Actually it's been a different store twice and the same store on the other two occassions. Just stupid people. You know the old, "oh I thought it was in reverse or I thought I hit the brake." One of the times the girl driving had her seat in a reclined position while talking on her cell phone and steering with her knee. It's just crazy.

I managed C-stores for 8 years about 20 ago.
Legal slavery, it was! Course, the chain was bankrupt,
stores were 24/7, labor hours and decent employees non-existant
and 18 hours days the norm.
In fact, the chain was bankrupt cuz it was determined to be bigger than
that chain from Southland that started as an ice company... you know the
one I mean, LOL!

I know the one you mean, that's the one he works for. Each time he is relocated to another store it's like building a new family all over again. Weeding out the useless employees (thieves) and rehiring new ones, weeding through those again and again until he hires the right ones. It's hard because the type of clientel that apply not always the greatest. This store he's been at for 5+ years and finally he can say he has a trustworthy staff. He's trying to last 5 more years and than he's gonna retire and we want to move out of FL all together.

trained, he stole about $800 in cash while processing money orders. He was
good. Timed being hired to be in store when payday and bills due hit.
Didn't start stealing until after the morning deposit had been made.
Was never seen again after that day...

Fast forward 2 years. We have moved to Wyoming..2000 miles away. Wife is
managing a store in Cheyenne.
Man comes in to get a job. She thinks he looks familiar....

SAME GUY!!!!!!!!!!
She calls the police, turns out dude has outstanding warrants all over the place.
Talk about a happy wife! She was just tickled pink!
(That was the lone "we won, thieves lost" story I have concerning Cstores, sighhh)

My husband has gotten so good at spotting a thief/employee. The digital survalience cameras are so awesome now. He can zoom in on a thin dime and the cameras are all over the place.

Yeah... cameras...
the "K" didn't allow them. Said they were worthless. No good for catching thieves...
Because the manager wouldn't have time to review them.

Course, this is the company that went 24/7 after stores were broken into while closed and the safes were stolen. Cheaper than installing good alarm systems, they said.
They were really PINCHING that thin dime, yuppers!
