I have a set of dry measure cups.
on the bottom reads: 6CL/ 1/4 cup/ 2 oz.
or: 25CL/ 1 cup/ 8 oz.
What does "CL" stand for??

A CL is a centiliter or 100th of a liter.

so a centi.....is 100th of a litre
and a Milli....is 1000th of a litre.
I am familiar with 'mili' metre, kilo metre, but " centi" is kinda rare.....at least in my experience, so thanks for the enlightenment.

Liter = 1000 ml = 1000 cc

Deciliter = 1/10 liter = 100 ml

Centiliter = 1/100 liter = 10 ml

Milliliter = 1/1000 liter = 1cc

They are two different measures and neither one is the best choice in all cases.

Unless you are trying to thoroughly confuse someone.... then they come in very handy!! LOL.

For example in English speaking countries alcohol is sold by the millilitre, and in European countries by the centilitre. What's sold as 750ml in English is sold as 75cl in Europe.

I understand. It could also be sold as 0.75 l or 7.5 dl.
