Hello and welcome to DC!!

That is how I learned how to cook, teaching myself! My mom knew how to follow a recipes but spices were foreign to her, LOL. I learned the basics and how to follow a recipe from her, but everything else I had to teach myself, including how to spice things up or change recipes, etc.
This place has been a wealth of info on everything from easy ethnic recipes to BBQ'ing, grilling, baking, etc etc etc etc etc LOL.
