Wide Mouth vs. Regular Mouth Jars.

Is one better than the other when it comes to canning or is it basiclly just personal preferance?

I have always just used Regular Mouth jars and have never had a problem with them. Though I hear more people talking about Wide Mouth.

As for performance, I have not found a difference. I did like to use wide mouth when preserving peaches, especially peaches that were purchased in Utah, they were huge!

I use both about equally. Sometimes the wide mouth is easier for packing bulky foods (and getting back out) and sometimes the regular mouth is good since the inside edge will help hold pieces of food in when packing it.

Different brands of jars also have different shapes.

I only used the wide mouth if I was making whole dills or pickled green tomatoes. Otherwise, I used the regular ones.
