Who else struggles to lift a hot and heavy saucepan??

I know I do and I'm keen to know if anyone else gets that burning sensation in their forearm when you think you are actually going to drop the pan because it hurts so much.

Have you found a way to over come this?

If possible, I use a ladle and spoon it into another dish, one with two handles. (I'm an arthritis sufferer)

I never buy heavy saucepans in the first place specifically because of that reason. A bit like Arky, if it is too heavy, I take the bowl/plate to the pan and serve from there. If I have to lift from the oven, it is always going to be on a tray in the oven so that I can use to hands and the weight is spread over the length of the tray. Also, I ensure I have free space to place the tray before the oven gets opened.

If you have really heavy pans etc when they are empty, consider getting rid of them - however good you believe them to be. No point injuring yourself over a meal IMO.
