Many of our surnames come to us through the kind of work our ancestors did;

4. Duck (I've worked with a lawyer named Donald Duck)
5. Greentree (wife's yearbook -- Forrest Greentree)
6. Large (parents had a friend named Fanny Large)
7. Hoff (my high school English teacher was named John Hoff, but all the other teachers called him Jack)
8. Schmuck (actual name of a used car dealer who was a party in a U.S. Supreme Court decision)
9. Hogg (Ima Hogg was a well-known philanthropist)
10. Fallick (went to college with a poor fellow with this surname).
 
..and there are others; My 8th grade history teach...Mrs. (Ada) Dick
and the cardinal of the Philippines, Cardinal Sin.............

but these are all beyond the thrust of the trivia question,, and into Johnny Carson's Monologe; THX anyway !
 
This is true -- back around 1968 when my wife and I were first married, we were at my parents' house in San Diego. I was reading the San Diego Union and a wedding announcement caught my eye for some reason -- a woman with the last name of "Horni" was marrying a guy named "Flick."
