17. They used oil and something called a strigil. You would coat your body with oil and then use the strigil to scrape it off along with whatever crud it loosened on your skin. Then jump in the hot pools. Ancient squeegee. UGH.

Cool facts, thanks! I'm a trivia junkie (as LT could tell you) so this is right up my alley.

The insurance companies certainly didn't think it was silly. They no doubt made a bundle. Lots of premiums and no payouts.

Lol... very true, it is actually a blatant scam, how people could not figure this out, is beyond my understanding.


I think the reason why people are so sceptic about insurance companies these days are mainly because of insurance cover like that, but actually taking it... stupidity is putting it mildly, hahahahahaha.... :ROFLMAO:
 
That insurance company was the Catholic church, I am pretty sure! :)
Pay enough, and the local bishop issued a Get Out of Hell Free card.

Haha yes I bet it was and you can bet they used the money for thier "special" robes and stuff haha!
