Bought a chicken a couple of days ago and then promtly forgot about it . Its best before date is tomorrow. Is it too late to freeze it now? If I cook it tonight it definately won't be eaten till Sunday, is it safe to re heat it and have it as a normal Sunday dinner or better to eat it cold as a salad? Bearing in mind its the coldest it has been in Ireland for at least the last 40 years (and we really can't cope) so a salad may be pushing it.

Any suggestions?

You can freeze it today and be OK. However, when you defrost it, you must cook it that day.

Alternatively, you can cook it today and reheat it on Sunday.

You can freeze it today, but be sure you take it out of the wrappings you brought it home in from the market and re-wrap it properly for freezing.

Actually, you should always do that, but when the expy date is near, it's even more important to do so.
