Dulce de leche - what is it for?

Yep, caramel sauce. It's maybe thicker than the norm, IMO. Like toffee.

I want to try to make the canned version. :chef:

I saw paula deen do it in the oven (put the can in a cassarole pan of water.) when she made banoffy pie, but I hate bananas so I want to make a caramel, apple, walnut pie.
 
It's really for whatever you want. It's a very creamy caramel and quite simple to make, even just simmering a can of sweetened condensed milk on the stove for a few hours works. I have had dulce de leche ice cream, cheesecake, would be a great dip for fruits.
