I've just had a new kitchen put in and it's looking *great*!

I'd like to maintain it in this shape as long as possible.

It has induction heating. I know I need special pots and pans for that!
I've been told that so long as a magnet sticks to a pan, it's OK to use.
Some (but not all) cookware says "suitable for induction".

However, what I don't know is how to avoid defacing my lovely new stovetop.
Any suggestions?
Does it inevitably show marks, stains, etc.?

All the best,
Alex R.

Congratulations on your new kitchen. I've never cooked on an induction top. It should be an interesting learning process.

Don't slide pots and pans around on the stove top to minimize scratches.
Wipe spills up as soon as it's practical so they don't bake in.

Remember, it's a tool, not a work of art and it will get scratches and other marks.

I have a glass stovetop, and a separate induction burner unit I haven't used for years. You can use a special liquid cleaner (Corning makes one.). Scotchbrite has a disposable cleaning pad with handle. I agree with Andy, don't slide your pots around, and clean up spills immediately. I would not allow any hot sugar syrup to stand on the stove surface. It could pit it.

I also use a razor to scrape off any clinging stuff.
