Thought this pic might interest.
I made a makeshift double-decker for my crockpot, by cutting out 1/2 the bottom of a 9" aluminum pan, albeit the cutout is a bit less than 1/2 to allow leeway to fold up part of it to contain food.
That way I could insert meat & beans above, and still use ladle in the other half, to ladle out the veggie soup from below.
The rim of the 9" pan rests perfectly (perfect fit) on the rim of the stoneware.
Note that I also used a crockpot liner, so the 9" pan rests on the liner as well as the stoneware-rim.
It comes in very handy. I also have another aluminum pan in which I had cut a hole in the center for ladling. But the layout of the half-gap pan is roomier, thus more practical.
Also Note:
While the glass cover is not pictured here, note that it fits perfectly within the circumference of the aluminum-pan's rim.
Now if only some producer would come out with a teflon or stainless steel version of this same thing... but I may as well wish for the moon.
