Diacritical Marks in Recipe Creation

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that enjoys cooking.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I have a MAC and I can put accent marks over the 'e' as follows:

Type the word until just before you type the accented e. e.g. saut
Next, hold down the alt/option key and type an e. This will put the accent mark in place.
Then type e again without using the space bar. This will put the e under the accent.

Note: using the alt/option key with the '0' (zero) key will give you a degree mark º

just google the word without any accents, then copy one of the results with accents, i.e. saute v. sauté or Etouffee v. Étouffée

Oh, dear, that's true. But you can copy and paste from the character map (if you use Windows). MAC has something similar - character viewer.
Character Map Windows XP

Yes, I have the Character Map in my Toolbar, now. I'm playing with creating a word document that I can just add frequently used words to and keep it handy on the desktop.

It's also useful, if you're working in WORD, to set auto-correct entries for all the words you use with diacritical marks. I always remember how to do the é but can never remember jalapeño or façade. :)

You can also type some characters in html numeric code...

The degree sign is "ampersand-numberhash-1-7-6-semicolon" .... 12°

The code is 233 for the acute e diacritical, etc.
