Hi
I got two quail from the market today. I have never cooked, or eaten them; so i asked the lady behind the counter for advice. she said to cook at 200° for 30mins, but when i look at recipes on line, it gives conflicting times.
So just wanting any advice from people that have cooked it.
It is whole, bone in.
Do i have to stuff it?
Thanks in advance

Lots of ways to cook quail. I think 200º F is too low. Recipes I've seen call for 300º - 350º F. Stuffing is always optional. I would stuff it with assorted mushrooms and maybe wild rice.

Be sure to wrap it in bacon. Quail has no fat and if you don't wrap it in bacon, it will be dried out, for sure.

I usually grill quail, and they take about 8 minutes per side. 200 degrees sounds too low.

I would consult Chef John Ash for time and temp to cook quail. He's a noted chef and teacher and game expert.

200 is low if the OP was talking fahrenheit. It might be just right if they meant centrigrade. 30 minutes at about 400F seems right for a bird so small.

Oh yeah sorry, i mean 200° centigrade.
Thanks for your replys
