The TV show started as a radio program in 1944, and aired on TV from 1952 to 1966.
Singer Harriet Hilliard and bandleader Ozzie Nelson had married in 1935. Their sons
were played by actors during the the radio programs early seasons, but the boys, David
and Ricky, began portraying themselves in 1949.
Oh! by the way; they remained a couple till death did they part.
