I made 2 pumpkin and 2 pecan pies for Thanksgiving. We only ate one of each. I'd like to freeze the second pecan pie for Christmas but have never done that before. How would you suggest I wrap it up for freezing? I'm thinking plastic wrap then foil but perhaps you have a better method. Then I also need advice for thawing. Should I plan on heating it in the oven or just let it thaw in the fridge? Thanks much!

You may be able to slip the whole pie into a gallon size zip bag. If not, I'd cut it into slices and package them separately. Zip bags come in freezer style.

I've successfully frozen both. As I recall, with double ziplock freezer bags. Christmas isn't that far away, so you could probably get by with a single bag. We took out a piece at a time, and just thawed them in the fridge.

Thanks. I'll get it into the freezer today. We're noshing on the pumpkin this week but just can't eat two whole pies in a week!
