Wow... it's 8:40 PM here in Minnesota and no dinner thread? :ermm:

Well, I ate tonight, even if no one else did. I went to Coastal Seafoods in St. Paul this morning and picked up a nice chunk of Chilean Sea Bass, which I pan seared and served over a bed of chopped spinach with lemon caper sauce.

Nice, Steve!

Nothing to write home about here. I made some broccoli beer cheese soup yesterday from the stalks, pureed with the boat motor, along with various and sundry other leftovers including panko baked chicken strips. We've just been snacking.

We picked up some pork barbecue in North Carolina, so we heated that up and had it on burger buns. I made cole slaw and baked beans to go with it. :yum:

Steve, that sea bass and sauce look yummy. I can't do cooked spinach, though. Makes the back of my teeth feel chalky. Weird, huh?

GG, you promised more food porn from Chef and the Farmer over in your Saturday's dinner post. I hope this isn't your idea of keeping that promise...

We cleaned up leftovers, plus I made a small pot of barley-mushroom soup. The deal with the soup was some for tonight, the rest for when we get back from a family funeral. Going to be near the Philly area the next couple of days, but I'll have my phone and tablet with me. No getting rid of me during my down time.

We went out. Originally going to a Greek place that we had gotten delivery from once before and really liked. Got there and found out it was counter service and cheap tables and hard chairs. Craig didn't want to dine-in there. So, we went next door to a Thai restaurant. Checked reviews and they were pretty good so I agreed. Started out as a bad experience for me. They apparently have a very limited # of menus so we had to wait to get a menu, which I felt was absolutely ridiculous. They were just generic printed menus in a laminated folder type thing, nothing expensive or custom. After at least 5 minutes, probably closer to 10 (2 servers, about 6-7 tables occupied), a waitress came to ask us what we wanted to drink, didn't speak English very well. I wanted wine so asked what do you have. She ended up having to go and get 1 menu (there were 2 of us remember) so I could see their wine list, which turned out to be just generic names like chardonnay, chablis, merlot, etc. She was standing over me while I was flipping thru the menu looking for the wine list, and I absolutely hate to be stood over. Craig ordered a Thai beer so I told her I'll try his beer and then decide. She apparently didn't understand and repeated back 2 beers, so had to explain again. It did turn out to be pretty good beer and I finally got one about 15 minutes after trying his. Craig got a couple of different kinds of dumplings for appies. They were decent but I'm nearly positive I've seen the exact same dumplings of 1 kind in the frozen section at the oriental food mart. He got a curry and ordered it really spicy (it wasn't, but he said it had a good flavor and he asked for and got some spicy stuff to add to it) and I got a crispy duck dish which on retrospection I should have realized had too much stuff in it, pineapple, red and green bells, snow pea pods, carrots, cashews, green onions. It was okay but I REALLY would have preferred the Greek place.

I had to use up some pastina (due to its sell by date) so made a substantial soup. It consisted of pancetta, onion, carrots, red lentils, pastina, chicken stock, mixed herbs, fresh parsley and some red pesto. Improvised but very tasty!
