This is one of my favorite cakes! It may not look beautiful, but as the name implies, it's not supposed to.

1C. chopped pecans
1C. coconut
German chocolate cake mix- mixed as directed
1 stick butter or margarine, melted
1 (8oz) pkg. cream cheese softened
1 box powdered sugar

Layer nuts & coconut in bottom of a greased 9x13 cake pan. Pour cake mix, mixed as directed over nuts & coconuts. Mix butter, cream cheese, & powdered sugar until creamy & pour evenly over cake mix. Bake at 350F for 45 minutes. Let cool before turning out of pan onto a serving tray.

crewsk this is a great cake to make when time is limited. Yummy too. Here's a frosting I sometimes use although I prefer the cake with out it my neighbor likes it frosted for his birthday.

Frosting for Earthquake Cake
2 tbs. cocoa
6 tbs. cola
1/2 cup margarine

2 cups powdered Sugar

Combine cocoa powder, cola, and 1/2 cup of margarine in sauce pan and cook till boiling, stirring constantly.

Remove and pour over powdered sugar, beat till smooth. Spread on cooled cake.

Spice, I've never had it with the frosting. The cream cheese, nuts, & coconut make enough of a frosting for me. I bet that frosting would be good on a plain chocolate or yellow cake as well! Thanks!!
