My local library just started a cookbook "book club" which will launch in March.

Each month has a theme. March is French Cooking, April is Paleo, May is Savory Baking.

We are to borrow a cookbook for the appropriate topic, make a recipe from it, and bring this dish to the discussion.

I'm very excited. I love making Parisian-style cakes and rarely have a chance to cook for an appreciative group since I moved to a small town. (And if I make a cake just for fun, I'll eat most of the zillion calories.)

I'm having lots of fun deciding on which recipes from which books I will use. I'm waffling between an almond torte layered with lemon curd and whipped cream with cardamom and minced dried figs soaked in cognac ~ and ~ hazelnut torte with chocolate buttercream and blueberry mousse filling. I love this kind of choice drama.

Perhaps you could ask your library to start a similar group!
