Neiman Marcus Bars

1 box yellow cake mix (with pudding)
1 stick melted butter
1 beaten egg

Mix and crumb together the above. Press into a greased 9x13" pan. Sprinkle 1 cup chopped walnuts over the above.

Mix:

1 lb. powdered sugar
1 beaten egg
1-8 oz. pkg. cream cheese

Pour this over the above and add another 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

Alix, supposedly they were served/sold at Neiman Marcus. Although, I have a feeling it's an urban legend. I've made the cookies and darn near died of chocolate "happy."

I've made the cookies too and they are great but too much work. My usual oatmeal choc chip cookie recipe is faster and just as tasty so we make that instead.

This recipe bears no resemblance to the cookies. And I never heard a story about "bars", so I was just curious. Anyone have a definitive answer? Inquiring minds want to know.
