Nope, K-Girl, just white sugar. I used walnuts, and mix of apples from the fruit drawer, starting with the ones too old to eat out of hand. Probably Gala and Braeburn, and one of the two Delicious I bought by mistake. We aren't fond of those.

I made Andy's apple squares only one time. If I remember right, his is less dense, less apple-y tasting. This is so dense and full flavored that a 2-inch square is way big enough.

Oh, I like that description! But it does have double the apples to sugar.

At least the flour to sugar ratio is 1:1, beth. I try to avoid recipes using more sugar than flour. When I make this again, I'll cot back on the sugar and see what happens.

Pecan Pie Bars in a quarter sheet pan ... makes just the right amount.
We have another Couples Card Game Afternoon tomorrow and I always
bring something for the entire class to share.

Cake Pops
I haven't made these in years!

I crumbled up a yellow Cake from a box mix
and added a can of store-bought Butter Cream...
mix well, shape and dipped in Dark Chocolate
Candy Melts® with Sprinkles too!

The other half of the recipe were made into
Cake Balls for DH.
He was so considerate, he said "Aren't you
going to share these with everyone?"

So I made up small treat box for Gal-Pal-Five-Streets-Up,
she won't be attending the party next week.

A chef-y friend of mine told me years ago, homemade foods
shouldn't look perfect ... you want the recipient to know
that you made it yourself, with love.

Well dragn, looks can be deceiving :turned: I thought since I hadn't made these in a while, I'd better taste test before the party :blink: BLAH-ACK! No bueno!!

Good thing I've got time for a re-do :LOL:

Brownie-Marshmallow-Fresh Strawberry-Chocolate drizz bites?

I saw this idea on Pinterest and instead of trying the Cake Pops for a
THIRD TIME
we'd move on to a different recipe :LOL:
DH did a taste test already and gave them a big thumbs up :ROFLMAO:

The "dud" (not very pretty-yet still delicious) Mini Brownies
will be made up into Ice Cream Sundaes for dessert later this evening.
 
I forgot to post the focaccia I made Wednesday for my neighbor's birthday party. I use Samin Nosrat's recipe, and a tip from a friend: when you add the dough to the pan, it tends to displace the olive oil and sticks after baking. So I smeared the pan with bacon fat and drizzled olive oil over that. Only a small corner of the bread stuck to the pan :chef: Plus it adds great flavor to the bread :yum:

Just waiting for it to cool. Homemade angel food, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries macerating in chambord and strawberry liqueur. Dessert for a pot luck today. Slice the cake, mound on the whipped cream and spoon on the berries and booze.

I hope I remember to get a picture at the dinner.

Buy it already baked.
