We participated in a neighborhood progressive dinner on Saturday. Six couples provided appetizers, a main dish and salad, and dessert and we went from house to house for each course.
We hosted the appetizer course with some new neighbors who live a few blocks away. I made Thai spring rolls with peanut sauce; tzatziki with raw carrots and celery and pita chips; and crostini with goat cheese and marinated red and yellow peppers. Our co-hosts brought steamed asparagus with thinly sliced carrot wrapped in eggroll dough and sauteed, served with a sweet and sour sauce, and shrimp cocktail.
The main course was spinach and ricotta canneloni with salad and rosemary foccacia. The dessert was an incredible spread - chocolate cups, cheesecake, cream-filled, chocolate-dipped strawberries topped with chocolate chips, and Giada de Laurentiis' panettone bread pudding with amaretto sauce. It was a really fun evening and we met several neighbors we didn't know before.
