Slow Cooker Cajun-Rubbed Pork Shoulder, Yukon Spuds, Vidalia Onion, Carrots, Sprouts...

We pooped ourselves out. DH and a friend moved the monster bookcase from the second floor to the basement. It was quite a production. A lot of stuff had to be moved so that it could be manoeuvred around corners. A lot of stuff got moved into the kitchen. So, we decided to order out again.

We ordered from our favourite Italian resto, Scarolies. DH had manicotti stuffed with ricotta and spinach and baked with some kind of tomato sauce. I had "Linguini ai Porcini e Spinaci: Olive oil, garlic, sundried tomatoes, fresh basil, porcini mushrooms, pesto, creamy pesto sauce, chilli, fresh spinach and bocconcini cheese". I had them leave out the sundried tomatoes.

It was very tasty and I have about 2/3 of mine left. There may be some snacking tonight. :pig:

Between its being Halloween and that we didn't feel like cooking, we had leftover chicken enchilada soup for dinner.

Color me surprised. The chili was smelling great. I finally took the lid off to stir it, make sure it wasn't sticking to the pot bottom. It was white chili, with navy beans! Well, it came time to eat. I was expecting edible. It was great, even made with ground chicken. It tasted like chili, not chicken soup. I soundly complimented DDIL on her chili, and heartily enjoyed my bowl-full. It may not have been quite as robust as my prize-winning recipe, but it was still very good. And my recipe wasn't even hinted at, especially by me. She was to get the limelight tonight.

Was craving corn bread and chili w/beans.
Had everything, including linguisa for the chili but, no pinto beans. Made do with great northern beans and it was fine.

First, a side note: I'm kind of jealous of folks (looking at you, Taxy!) that can actually order food to be delivered! We're too far out in the boonies and nobody delivers to us. Well, I suppose, these days one could get GrubHub or something, we've never tried.

Anyway, back to Sunday night dinner...we had Thai Basil Beef. DH loves and misses Yoshinoya Beef Bowl restaurants that we had in L.A. I was mostly unimpressed, but he loves it. Since we don't have that here in the PNW, I've found a few dishes to make that are similar...but better! Thai Basil Beef is one of those. Served over Rice Cooker Cal Rose rice. It hit the spot and I was able to use up a bunch of my basil plant that I need to end soon.

YAY!!
Glad to see you're baking in the kitchen Ross.
And genius people think alike! I use Portuguese Sausage in my Chili too.

I made Cornbread last night to go with our BBQ chicken,
coleslaw and baked beans.
That also means we had toasted Cornbread with honey
and butter for breakfast this morning. :yum:

Yeah, I can order food from a large variety of restos, but there are trade offs. I'm going to guess that on a clear night, you can see more than a few stars. I'm probably closer to an emergency room than you. But, I get to hear the fight the neighbours are having. I know that he doesn't get as much sex as he wants and she doesn't approve of him watching so much porn. :ermm:.

You win a few, you lose a few.

Yeah, too bad it's stuck on the same channel.

Reruns, contrary to popular belief, do not always get better with time.

Oh, dear. I'm sorry to hear this! You know, years ago, we had some similar neighbors. There were times, we just got in the car and left. Anywhere was better than listening to them. I prayed they would move. Then, they did! But they moved because they were getting a divorce. I felt so bad for saying those prayers. :(

TBH, I haven't actually heard them fighting for quite a while. But, I did hear that for years. They weren't even shouting. We live in a row house, with neighbours houses attached on either side, so sound travels easily. Moving furniture, we hear it. Using a hammer, we hear it, never mind using power tools. At least they don't use power tools, or even hammer, too often.
