The new food pyramid - your thoughts?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that enjoys cooking.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I like it because it focuses on whole foods.. which is what I've been focusing on for myself and DH... It's nice to finally see something.. and to show that not all carbs are bad and not all fats are bad, etc.

I like the fruits where they are but what if I like my fruit a bit fermented in French Oak barrels? :ermm:

Seriously, it's not a bad pyramid at all - focus is on the right foods and the right fats with the really important things holding up the pyramid.

They can build that pyramid upside down for all I care. I eat all food groups. Gotta have variety, and in moderation. So they can change it every year if they want and it won't change me.

(Kitchenelf, I'm seeing a pattern. Ha ha. )

just had time to BRIEFLY look at it. liked the exercise, I see some issues, with milk being only one to servings a day ?.
use butter sparingly??:wacko::ohmy: potatoes sparingly?

You would not believe what the committee who comes up with the recommended guide has to go through, it is excruciating what they have to go through to agree on the simplest of concepts.

If you turn it upside down it's shaped like an ice cream cone.
Chocolate please!
