RINGOES, N.J. --
Five world eating records fell last weekend in a contest held at an Italian restaurant.
The International Federation of Competitive Eating competition was held Saturday at Verducci's in Ringoes, N.J.
Each challenge featured a specially prepared Italian dish from Verducci's gourmet kitchen.
The categories were tomatoes and mozzarella, escarole, penne pasta and red sauce, sausage and peppers and tiramisu.
"Krazy" Kevin Lipsitz, of Staten Island, N.Y., won the escarole competition by eating 4 pounds in eight minutes.
"This is all about how fast you can move your body parts," Lipsitz said. "You have to be on top of your game. It's like running a three-minute mile."
