Yes, the Japanese do curry, but around here, it’s commonly Glico -based curry. Your curry sauce is probably just a curry sauce for the Katsu, which is a panko-breaded cutlet.
Katsu sauce is typically Bulldog. It’s based on Worcestershire sauce but different. I love it.

Yes, it's made in Japan and I bought it in Canada - Vancouver, BC. I'm sure it's available in the US, too, especially the west coast. It's good!
Do you live in York, UK? I see that there are lots of Asian grocery stores in York, you will probably find Bulldog products there.
