1. You picked a good one to start off with GB. My favourite memories were once we moved to BC from Saskatchewan (I was almost 8) I got to meet my paternal Grandparents for the first time. I would spend 2 weekends a month with them and my Grand Mom (and she was) would take me to interesting places, she would teach me how to make things (my favourite was turkish delite, she made the best I have ever tasted). She had a friend who taught me beading and another who got me interested in cake decorating. Pop was great too. He took me fishing with him a couple of times and I always caught ones bigger than his. He taught me how to play crib....I never beat him though. I really miss them both.

2. Oh, that is a hard one because Music is my favourite song. But if I had to pick just one, it would have to be Niel Diamonds "I Am I Said" I knew the feelings of being torn between two places (Saskatchewan and here). A close runner-up is "I Don't Know Much" because it is one DH and I relate to.

3. Well, as I said above, my paternal Grand Mother had a huge influence on my life.

1. That's an easy one - I bake and decorate them . I just find them too sweet. As I am testing out recipes and tweaking them for my uses, I have to taste them and it has become too much of a good thing.

2. Hmm, right now just getting away would be a dream. But I want to travel to New England, partly to see how beautiful it is and partly to trace my father's family. His paternal grandfather came from Quincy, near GB's neck of the woods and my Dad and Grandfather new nothing of his past before he came to Canada. I have since found out he had a brother and want to see the area and whatever else I can find.

3. Dad just gave me his 1995 Pontiac Sunfire and DH and I have a 2008 Chev Aveo. I like them both for different reasons. But I would love a Dodge Grand Caravan. It is high up and I could cater an entire wedding out of one!

PF, I love your state. When I was back in Regina in the late 70's to early 80's I got down there quite a bit. My aunt and cousin and I would go shopping or just for a break. I would love to meet up with you too!

1. Who was your favorite teacher in school, and why?

2. If money were no object and you had a year to do anything at all you wanted, what would you do?

3. How do you want to be remembered when you are gone?

1. I read EVERYTHING! Oddly enough the one genre I am least likely to read are romance novels. Oh, and while I love mysteries, spy novels, war stories and science fiction, you will not ever see me pick up a horror story or something on Vampires. I also read a ton of non-fiction. I have been known to read cookbooks from cover to cover before ever trying a recipe. Biographies are of great interest to me. Authors range from Shakespeare and Twain to Margaret Atwood and Jan Karon.

2. I think my favourite thing to make is soup. I love experimenting with flavours and textures. Soup is such a comfort food and yet you can also make it into an elegant starter.

3. Babe, that is a great question! I have always wanted to make paella. I love it (except mine would have no muscles in it) and yet have never made it. I missed that class at school and for some reason just haven't gotten around to it.

1. My favourite teacher was Mrs. Juk for many reasons. I had her in grade 5 and 7. I hated to read but she saw potential and entered me into a reading contest. We had to read 12 assigned books and then there was a quiz. I hated every minute of it, and so did my Mom as she had to prod me. I won second prize though and haven't stopped reading ever since. She also was helpful in awkward times with my braces and socializing with other kids.

2. Wow! I have several young women whom I have sort of been mentoring over the last several years. I would like to have the means and time to teach them what I know about cake, life, etc. I think I have a year and money wasn't a problem, I would really make an effort to reach out to them.

3. As someone who cared about others. That's all.

I love how you want to be remembered, LP. That's what it's all about isn't it.

You are so creative with your cake decorating, have you ever thought about picking up a paintbrush, or sculpting, or pottery, etc? Oh, and please tell us about your avatar

Thanks, Mollyanne.

My mother was a painter. She had a natural talent and then took lessons for several years. I have some of her work in my home and it always reminds me of her. My sister is a photographer. My art teacher used to get so frustrated with me because she knew I had the talent, but I would only put effort into mediums I was interested in. I am not an artist in the sense of drawing and painting. For my cakes it is all visual, never down on paper, though one of the young women I have been working with did sketch out the shower cake we are making for next weekend. I seem to do much better with a piping bag than a paintbrush!

My avatar is very simple. It is the view outside the window by my desk where I am right now. The Lower Mainland of BC isn't known for our snow so when we say "it snowed" people laugh. So I have this picture for all for seasons and this is what it's like now!

What Barbara is eluding to is that she, Princess Fiona and I all realized we are all married to the same man....the most amazing husband in the world!

Seriously, my DH is a wonderful person. Before he became my husband he was my friend and business partner. Next September 1st, we will be celebrating 10 years of marriage and the 20th anniversary of our first meeting. (A long story which I won't bore you with now).

He works as a care aid in a couple of group homes for physically and mentally challenged adults and everyone loves him. He spends his evenings working with them and then on his time off is often taking care of my Dad and me.

He is a computer geek, having taught programming classes for 13 years in Part-Time Studies at our Technical Institute. The company we co-owned was an internet hosting/design/programming firm which I was the manager and head web designer/developer. We sold the company in 2005 because business was slow and we all wanted to go in different directions. DH allowed me to use the proceeds towards culinary school and he worked for others for awhile but decided that he more wanted to help people than make money for them which brought him into being a care worker.

I love him to bits and what is more is he cherishes me and spoils me rotten.

Yep! I was going to say that he would move mountains to make you happy (thinking of the kitchen he was looking at a while back!).
