A Very Rare Dim Sum Dish

Hi, I'm not sure this is the correct forum to post a request in but a long time ago I used to enjoy a dish in a Chinese restaurant called paper wrapped prawns. Sadly this restaurant has gone and although I have been to many dim sum places since and tried endlessly searching recipes, I have never found anything close, apart from one other restaurant that served a similar dish which seems to have closed. I never ate there but a guest posted a picture of the dish.

I have a couple of pictures.

This one is from the original restaurant I used to visit, http://www.vi-vian.com/wp-content/up.../P1000780a.jpg
The restaurant was called Chuen Cheng Ku, in Gerrard Street, London

The other restaurant was called Maxi in Leeds and their dish seems similar https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/me...ed-in-rice.jpg

I was told when I was abroad by a manager of a dim sum restaurant that this dish can be found in Hong Kong but he was very vague and again, I haven't been able to find a recipe.

Could anyone suggest where to look or how to find this recipe? It was such a great dish and I would love to make it myself.

Thank you.

A quick internet search turned up this. It's Viet Namese, so it might not be what you want.

Try searching for "paper wrapped prawns". There were a number of other things that looked like there would be a recipe.

Thanks for your reply. It does sound somewhat similar with the rice paper and frying technique. The dipping sauce is wrong (sweet and sour for the dim sum), but is tempting me to head down and try the dish there at some point to see if it is close.

As you mention, there are many other dishes online when searching paper wrapped prawns but have tried them in many different places and they are quite different.

The original ones at the dim sum were really something unique.
