We love smoked motz. Our favorite dish using this wonderful ingredient is a gnocchi with fresh tomatoes, smoked motz and basil.:yum:

Lets have your favorites using this great cheese!:)

Motz?
What is motz? Google pulled up anything and everything but food

Like Matza balls?

Mozzarella? Craig did say cheese.

Mozzarella? Could be. I didn't notice the cheese reference. I was too busy Googling motz to see what kind of new food he was talking about, lol.
I've never seen mozzarella referred to as motz.
I guess we'll have to wait to find out.

Yes, mozzarella.:innocent: We've always called it motz for short.:)

Do you make your own and if so do you also smoke it? I love smoked Mozzarella and someday hope to try making my own.

We just eat it as is .. maybe with some apple but that's about it.

The standard, caprese, is nice. Homegrown sliced tomatoes, fresh basil leaves, smidge of salt, and drizzle of balsamic. Bet it would be really good with smoked mozzarella.

My usual grocery store has smoked mozz, gouda, and something else (swiss?) in 1/2 pound waxed blocks. I try to keep at least one sealed one in the cheese drawer at all times "just in case". Never tried it on gnocchi. I have a basil plant on the windowsill and 4 pints of grape tomatoes I was going to roast for a quick sauce (at 99 cents a tub I couldn't pass them by) and I'm going shopping tomorrow...for smoked mozz? Hmmm.....
