Hello,

I am new to this forum. I have an annual pie competition with my friends (it has been going for 8 years now).

We are judged mostly on flavour but there are marks for presentation and creativity.

I want to do a tandoori chicken pie filling but was wondering if a naan bread recipe would work as the pie crust and lid? Once cooked I was then going to top off with fresh salad and drizzle with authentic indian mint/yoghurt and chilli sauce. I am trying to replicate the flavours of a indian restaurant tanddori chicken meal, but in a pie....

Do you think a naan bread dough could work as a pie crust and lid?

Bit random but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I think nan would adsorb too much moisture from the filling - at least for the bottom crust. It might be a cool top however and so you might consider a pie with no bottom - sort of like a shepards pie which often has only a top.

Thanks Janet, I was originally thinking just the top. Seen a recipe online that has done that but thought I might try and step it up. Might just give it whirl,at least I'll know for sure then. ☺
