I'm not sure if I want to cook Sous Vide
in a plastic bag.
Is it safe?
I dunno!

I was watching this gal that I follow on You Tube,
and she cooked Pork Chops Sous Vide, using this:

https://www.amazon.com/Stasher-Sili...571606280&sprefix=stashed,aps,234&sr=8-2&th=1

In fact, I saw these today at Target while I was
out and about. But they only had gallon and
sandwich sizes in store.

My wish list to Santa just gets longer and longer. :santa:

I don't think that bag will work for you. It might be difficult to force all the air out. If you have a Foodsaver, that's the best option. Otherwise, Ziplock freezer bags will work with the displacement method. They are food safe to heat the food in.

I was watching this video:

If you jump to 4:24 she shows how she uses these
silicone bag.

Andy, I have a Food Saver and the majority of
my meats are packaged this way.
As to Zip top disposable bags, can I use "store brand" bags?

I see how those silicone can work. But they are probably expensive.

If the store brand bags are food safe to heat food in, they can work.

However, if you have a Food Saver, why wouldn't you use that?

Andy, those bags are expensive, but they are reusable. They don't add to the plastic waste that ends up in the ocean.

I usually use the dollar store ziplock bags, but this could be a good alternative as I'm a tiny bit worried that the plastic breaks down for when I sous vide meat for more than 24 hours.

I've thought of using those, K-Girl. Environmental reasons. However, I know me. I will buy them, use them once, and store them somewhere that I can easily find them....and never see them again.

I use brand name bags, the ones with the double strips that change color when properly sealed. We have a food saver, but I'm generally too lazy to drag it out and then gave to.put it away again.
