crock pot onion soup

i just found my sil's instructions for how to make her quick and easy crock pot onion soup. it was a bit salty because she uses bouillon, so the last time i made it, i used chicken stock and added salt to taste. but here's her instructions with the bouillon:

ingredients:
6 cups thinly sliced onions
1/2 cup of butter (1 stick)
1 tbsp of brown sugar
4 tbsps of flour
2 cups grated parmesano reggiano
2 quarts water
8 bouillon cubes

in a pot, boil 2 quarts of water and add the 8 bouillon cubes, dissolve them in the water, and put into the crock pot, set on high.

in a skillet, sautee the onions in butter until soft, then stir in flour and sugar. add to stock. cook on low, 6 to 7 hours, or on high, 3 hours.

place a slice of french bread in a bowl, ladle soup over bread, top with mozarella or swiss or provolone cheese, place under broiler to melt cheese.

enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never had a bowl of onion soup that I didn't love.
Thanks for posting this version. I can't wait to try it.
